PHIL ELLIOTT

CEO - Modern Wolf

Phil started out working in radio, and transitioned into journalism while at BBC Radio 5Live. From there a step into specialist media followed, with GameSpot UK and GamesIndustry.biz, before moving to Square Enix in 2011 as Head of Community. He founded indie publishing label Square Enix Collective a couple of years later, and helped build it into a thriving part of the wider business, before moving on to become CEO of Modern Wolf in 2023

HARRIET HUGHES

VP of Marketing - Thunderful

Harriet has recently joined Thunderful as VP of Marketing. She has spent the last 20 years in Games Publishing in senior marketing roles at EA, Marmalade and Playstack. At Playstack, she worked alongside the CEO to grow Playstack from a start-up to 75+ employees globally, including supporting on studio acquisitions. She thoroughly enjoys the challenge of brand building, especially now when competing with industry giants, and loves nothing more than when a game connects with an audience through an innovative marketing campaign.

TIMEA EDVI

Director of Indie Publishing, Square Enix

Starting her career in her native Hungary, Tímea has worked with multiple first party publishers, including Nintendo, SEGA, Gameloft and Square Enix, on AAA, mobile, indie games and more.

As the Director of Square Enix Collective, her mission is to find and nurture talent, and to help indie developers create successful games and build viable businesses.

As the previous Marketing and Brand Manager for Square Enix Collective, Tímea helps indie developers bring their game to market – from building a brand, to how best promote and sell it.

SPIKE LAURIE

Partner - Hiro Capital

Spike is a Partner at Hiro Capital, a games, games-tech and metaverse focused venture capital fund investing in the innovators of the future, where he leads the fund’s game studio, games technology and esports investments.

Prior to joining Hiro Capital, Spike was Global Vice President of Publisher Relations, Managing Director UK and Managing Director Brazil at ESL, the world’s largest esports company. Prior to ESL he worked for Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment overseeing their global Esports strategy and looking after the retention and engagement of all games for the EMEA market.

  • The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over at time of competition entry, except employees of Player1 Events and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.

    There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

    By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

    Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are in three stages:

    1. Complete the application form to capture your details and confirm your age, and

    2. Email your pitch document to elaina.mcallister@player1events.com, and

    3. Short-listed pitches are presented at a 30mins session on-site, in-person at Insomnia Gaming Festival

    Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.

    Closing date for entry will be Friday 25th August at 18:00. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

    No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

    The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:

    The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.

    The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

    The prize for the winning pitch, is as follows:

    PRIZE DETAILS

    • Return economy flight and 5 nights accommodation for one person to GDC 2024

    • Monthly hourly mentoring session in the lead up to GDC with Phil Elliott, CEO of Modern Wolf

    • Marketing package from Game on Loop, details below -

      • Bi-weekly 1-hour strategy calls to discuss marketing initiatives and strategies

      • An Influencer Marketing Campaign worth $2000, utilising Game On Loop’s platform to promote the winner's game using influencers

      • One access pass to the Loop Store for 12 months, allowing the winner's game to be featured and promoted within the platform

      • Access to Key Campaigns on the Loop platform, valued at $2000

      • Loop-managed Key Campaigns for the winner's game throughout the 12-month period, valued at $6000.

    The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

    Winners will be chosen by industry professionals (Phil Elliott, CEO - Modern Wolf; Spike Laurie, Partner - Hiro Capital; Harriet Hughes, VP of Marketing - Thunderful; Timea Edvi - Director of Indie Publishing, Square Enix), from all entries received and verified by the Promoter and or its agents

    The winners will be notified by email used in their application within seven calendar days of the closing date and time. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within three working days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

    The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected / is delivered.

    The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

    By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

    The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

    The winner agrees to the use of their name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

    Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
